Autumn at The Curve

Autumn at the Curve

One thing that we really like about our location here at the Queen Street Apartments is how near we are to some of the best things to do in Leicester. And one of them has to be a trip to the Curve theatre.

At only walking distance from where we’re based, it offers a great opportunity to take in some fantastic performances whenever the mood takes us. And whatever your tastes, whether it’s musicals, fun for all the family, or political dramas that you love, there’s always something to suit everyone.

So, if you’re wondering what’s on at Curve over the coming months, here’s a little lowdown:

What’s on at The Curve

As the theatre looks ahead to its Autumn/Winter season it has announced a packed programme for the season ahead – with some of Curve’s own productions and visiting work from world-class theatre companies presenting productions throughout the season.

Check out some of what’s been on that we’ve very much enjoyed and some of what’s to come below:

  • Pink Sari Revolution, the world premiere of a new play exploring the story of more than 400,000 women who donned pink saris to make a stand over violence against women.
  • The 40-strong cast of Curve’s Young Musical Theatre Company take you on a journey of love and heartache, friendship and conflict with the Rogers and Hammerstein musical Oklahoma!
  • The classic story of The Railway Children comes to Leicester in October.
  • Jess Green’s Burning Books – A powerful and humorous look at an education system buckling under government cuts and targets.
  • Former Curve artistic director Paul Kerryson returns to the city with his international smash- hit tour of 60s-based musical comedy Hairspray.
  • The National Theatre returns with its production of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, adapted and directed respectively by Olivier Award winners Patrick Marber and Ivo van Hove

Some of our favorites

Christmas time has to be one of the most magical in theatre land and as we head towards the festive season, we are very much looking forward to this year’s Curve musical – Leslie Bricusse’s Scrooge.

And for the smaller ones to get into the Christmas spirit, there are productions of ‘Christopher’s Christmas’, Roald Dahl’s ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ and ‘The Snow Dragon’ to get excited about.
