Fitness in Leicester – How to stay healthy and active for free!

At Queen Street Apartments we are pleased to accommodate lots of doctors, nurses and other medical professionals who make the most of our state of the art facilities including our gym which is a great place to go for fitness in Leicester.

It’s people like these and many more of our Queen Street residents who value the importance of a regular fitness routine and the massive benefits it can bring to mind, body and soul.

For this reason, our flats to rent in Leicester have their very own communal heated indoor pool, sauna and fitness suite on site, for all of our residents to use free of charge.

When it comes to fitness in Leicester, it doesn’t have to mean the use of expensive gyms and sports clubs. In addition to the onsite facilities at Queen Street, there is so much to do in and around our great city that is absolutely free of charge – here are just a few ideas.

Visit some of the local parks

We’ve been getting some lovely weather in Leicestershire so far this year, so, as well as giving us the chance to check out the best places to eat in the city,  it makes a great opportunity to grab some outdoors exercise too.

The best thing about it is that you can go for a walk, jog, run, cycle ride or outdoors HIIT session on one of the many local parks, at no cost at all.

Here are a few of our favourite Leicester parks and green spaces to keep fit in:

  • Bradgate Park
  • Abbey Park
  • Victoria Park
  • Knighton Park
  • Aylestone Meadows
  • Western Park
  • Braunstone Park

With over 3,000km of public paths and walking routes in Leicestershire, going for a good old hike is also a great way to grab some fresh air and stay in shape.

There are absolutely loads of public footpaths and bridleways all over the county, not to mention plenty of hills and valleys for those looking for something more challenging.

Some of the most stunning places to go for a hike include Bradgate Park, Beacon Hill and Croft Hill – well worth a look if you like the thought of panoramic views and getting a bit breathless in the hike up to them!

Cycle routes all over Leicestershire

Cycling is also a great way to stay fit and healthy in Leicester free of charge. There are plenty of organised rides to get involved in, or why not plan your own, based on length and the terrain that suits your ability the most?

The city has an excellent network of off-road routes which are easily accessed from the city centre, such as the waterways, Great Central and Leicester to Swannington railway corridors, and of course, the parks mentioned above, which make up just a few of the ones which are perfect for biking.

Get fit at Queen Street!

As we mentioned above, our on-site facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and gym, so, when you rent one of our Leicester flats, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to keep up your fitness routine as much as you need.

For those looking for something a bit more social, we also run a weekly fitness boot camp and an Aqua Aerobics class to get involved in.

Not only does this mean you’ll rest assured of the right amount of exercise that you need, but it’s also a good chance to meet some fellow fitness fans too.
