Leicester Events – February Round-up

We love being based in the heart of the city as it means a front row seat for all of the fantastic Leicester events that there are to see and do both here and further out into the county.

One of the highlights of Leicester’s calendar is the Comedy Festival which this year was celebrating its quarter century!

The massively popular festival took place from 7-25 February, and saw hundreds of big names from the world of comedy take part.

It featured over 847 shows in 69 venues across Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland and, as ever, certainly didn’t fail to get our sides splitting once again.

Some of the highlights included an awesome interview with Harry Hill on February 11, and stories, anecdotes and reminiscences from the legend that is Griff Rhys Jones on February 23.

Both events were held at the amazing Curve which is just a short walk away from our flats to rent in Leicester, so we were able to grab a cheeky tipple or two in some of the fab Cultural Quarter bars on our walk home.

Some more of our favourite events from this year’s Comedy Festival included the following:

Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year – February 24 – The Y Theatre

Leicester Comedy Festival’s 25th birthday party – February 25 – The Little Theatre

The UK Pun Championships – February 12 – De Montfort Hall

The Comedy Festival is absolutely great for Leicester as it’s one of the most notable events to take place throughout the year, drawing visitors from all over the world.

Of course, it also makes an excellent addition to all the arts, culture, history and downright unusual things to do that this city is already renowned for.

Laughter is good for the soul

The chance to have a really good laugh is, without doubt, food for the soul and that’s why we hold regular events for our Queen Street Apartments residents, to enable them to socialise, make friends and have fun.

Our most recent resident engagement event was held at The Exchange, which again is only a short walk from the Queen Street Apartments.

It was perfectly positioned for a get together, being opposite the Curve Theatre and near the rest of the delights of St George’s Cultural Quarter, such as Phoenix Cinema, LCB Depot and 1930s style cocktail bar Manhattan 34.

Another of our favourite Leicester events which took place in February was Bill Bailey’s compendium of traveller’s tales entitled Larks in Transit, which was held on February 26 and 27 at the De Montfort Hall.

And we couldn’t fail to mention the Chinese New Year celebrations which included LCB Depot’s special multi-media art exhibition, Made in China – a presentation of modern interpretations of traditional Chinese craft and architecture.
